Mike “Hawk” Huston

My name is Mike “Hawk” Huston, Since the age of six, I have been an avid archer and devoted bow and arrow enthusiast. The wild places of the world have always beckoned to my wanderers soul. I spent my youthful summers on the rosebud reservation of South Dakota with my adopted uncle and his family, learning the old ways of the Lakota people and enjoying a life few white children will ever experience.
At the age of eighteen, when others my age were enrolling in college I disappeared into the Bitterroot Selway Wilderness of Montana alone with only my bow, knife, dog and bed role for six months. The lessons I learned while engaged in that long-term survival situation during the coldest months of winter were often harsh, but at the same time, well taught.
Hunting is not only a passion for me but also an obsession; I have been blessed to harvest elk, bear, mountain lion, mule deer, whitetail, and two species of wild turkey. Small game, waterfowl and upland game birds have fallen to my arrows over the years. I have also been fortunate enough to harvest dozens of predatory species such as coyotes, fox and bobcat at very close range. Every hunt, every time, is conducted with honor and integrity at the forefront of the adventure. I am a hunter not a killer. The pursuit far outweighs the harvest and I always strive to hunt in an honorable and sacred way.
As a published freelance writer, I try to write in a way that will help to fuel the passion for the outdoors in those whom already know it intimately, as well as ignite a new flame for those new to the outdoors and teach respect to people who may have lost their connection to the natural world.http://highcountryarcher.blogspot.com ![IMG_8665[1] IMG_8665[1]](http://teamhuntress.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/IMG_86651-300x199.jpg)
I spend more time in the true wilderness of the Rockies than most would find comfortable, yet when I return to the civilized world, the wild places soon call on me again. I am the father of two strong American boys and the lucky husband of my wife Stacey who shares my passion for the outdoors.
In their spare time…Mike and Stacey own and operate a log home restoration company in NW Wyoming~and honored to be an outdoor ambassador for Team Huntress.
